The launch of this new partnership took place at the State Guest House was attended by Mr. Yang Zong Xian, Director of Chint, Dr. Yin Yin Nwe, UNICEF Representative, together with leaders from government bodies, the media and many specially-invited guests..

Speaking on behalf of UNICEF China, Dr. Yin Yin Nwe expressed her sincerest  thanks to Chint and gave a brief presentation on the UNICEF assisted Child Injury Prevention Project in China."Every year in China", she said, "over 10 million children are injured, and more than 100,000 children die from drowning, traffic accidents, accidental suffocation, falls, poisoning and other accidents."  The UNICEF Representative told of how few realized that injury and accidents were  now the leading cause of death amongst children in China. Since 2003, UNICEF in cooperation with the Chinese Government has supported a project to prevent injury and accidental deaths. The project is demonstrating that it is feasible and cost-effective to reduce child injury and accidental death in homes, schools and communities. The project has also established national safety standards for schools and is helping to set-up systems in the city to monitor injury, as a part of child health. The project also encourages children to participate in actions to create safe homes, safe schools and safe communities. The support from Suzhou Chint will benefit thousands of children every year at home, in schools and in communities.

The launch and the media reports it generated are helping raise public awareness of the emerging issue of child injury, with Chint's collaboration with UNICEF a best practice in the textile industry.
