New Type of Partnership for UNICEF China With Real Estate Industry
Fundraising Project Launched With Beijing Elite Real Estate Development Co., Ltd 6 January 2007, Beijing Elite Real Estate Development Co., Ltd (Elite) and UNICEF launched a joint project at Dragon Bay Villa in Beijing. The partnership marks a totally new fundraising concept, involving the donation on behalf of villa owners of Renminbi 8 per sq. meter of saleable floor space at their Dragon Bay Villa Project in Beijing. Elite promised a minimum donation of RMB 400,000 which will be used to support UNICEF Child Friendly Schools Project in China benefiting a minimum of 24,000 children from 80 schools in the poorest regions of western China. Mr. Lan Chun, General Manager/Board Director of Beijing Elite, Dr. Yin Yin Nwe, UNICEF Representative to China, Ms. Anjana Mangalagiri, Chief of Education & Child Development and Mr. Thomas Chung, Corporate Fundraising & Sales Officer participated in the launch ceremony. Many guests and villa owners also attended the ceremony.
Mr. Lan Chun and Dr. Yin Yin Nwe made their speeches respectively expressing their confidence and goodwill to the cooperation and expressed their sincere thanks to Villa Owners. They signed the collaboration agreement on the spot and Dr. Yin Yin Nwe presented the Certificate of Recognition to Mr. Lan Chun.
After the MOU signing ceremony, a forum on corporate social responsibility in the real estate industry was held with Mr. Lan Chun, Dr. Yin Yin Nwe, officers from UNICEF and invited guests from Beijing University and the media. The well organized forum also gave guests and the media a better understanding of UNICEF and its work in China.
