Junior 8 Summit 2009

The Junior 8 Summit, or 'J8', is an annual forum where young people from around the world meet to share their concerns and recommendations on how to solve the global issues with G8 leaders and the world community. The Summit is a parallel youth event to the annual Group of 8 (G8) Summit of world leaders.

This year, the J8 Summit will be held in Italy, in the first week of July. At the J8 Summit, a team of young people represents each of the G8 countries: Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia, the United Kingdom and the United States. An additional delegation of young people from other countries of the world, which are impacted by the decisions being discussed by world leaders will also attend the meeting.

The topics delegates will discuss at this year's J8 events are:

1. Child Rights in the Context of the Financial Crisis
2. Climate Change
3. Development efforts in Africa
