In late 2005, the Secretary-General of the United Nations Kofi Annan, launched the Unite for Children Unite against AIDS Global Campaign with UNICEF, UNAIDS and other UN organizations, committing to dramatically accelerate and scale up action for children and young people, by providing a platform for everyone involved in halting and reversing the spread of HIV/AIDS among children, adolescents and young people.
The Campaign in China In response to the call of the United Nations and to put children and young people at front and center of the national AIDS agenda, the State Council AIDS Working Committee Office (SCAWCO) launched the Campaign on Children and AIDS in China, forming a broad alliance for and with children and young people in the fight against AIDS.
