Early childhood provides a foundation for the development of all cognitive abilities and personality. It is a critical time during which children need love, adequate nutrition, access to health care, and mental stimulation. The challenge of giving children adequate resources in early childhood can be broken into three distinct phases: survival, development, and protection.
