UNICEF and partners
Together, UNICEF, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and other agencies support a Rapid Response Mechanism to meet the immediate needs of populations affected by the emergency in DRC. Recent escalations in the conflict have increased the number of assisted people to 120,000 per month. UNICEF is also working with local NGOs and other partners, including the CARITAS religious network, to ensure that vulnerable children get the protection and support they need – as well as providing assistance with child health and nutrition, water and sanitation, education and HIV/AIDS prevention.
