Catherine Mbengue joined UNICEF in 1981 and has served in Malawi, Ghana, Congo and Gabon, as well as at headquarters in New York. Ms. Mbengue is a national of Cameroon. She graduated in 1978 with a Bachelor’s degree in economics from the Université Panthéon-Sorbonne in Paris, France. In 1979 she earned two Master’s degrees – one in economics and another in political science – also from the Sorbonne. She was appointed Representative to Afghanistan in November 2006.
