Child-Friendly Schools Documentary Series: Rising Voices
Young people today will face challenges that require them to be more creative, more adaptable and more resilient than ever before. Poverty, climate change, conflicts, natural disasters and the economic crisis call for more sustainable solutions. Education is the key to solving the problems of the global community. This series features six documentary films focusing on the personal stories of students in different countries and contexts in which child-friendly school policies are being implemented.
The individual films were shot across the world, in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cambodia, Egypt, Ghana, Nicaragua and the Sudan. The series shows the depth and breadth of the impact of child-friendly schools, as they have spread across 90 countries since their inception. Child-friendly school policies form the backbone of these stories, which honour the value of each individual child and, collectively, provide hope for the future of education. They bring to life the ideas and ideals behind child-friendly school policies in a way that reports and statistics cannot. Vibrant and engaged children emanate a palpable spirit – and the films reflect these ebullient realities.
