Day Five of the OneMinutesJr workshop in Turkmenistan - Finishing up
The last day of the OneMinutesJr workshop in Turkmenistan has come and the participants and the trainers are working frantically on finishing the films, adding the titles and credits and collecting all the materials for the final presentation in the afternoon. It has been an interesting week for everybody involved in the process. The participants learned a lot, especially because they were given a freedom in terms of creativity formerly unknown to them. In the afternoon, a bit later than expected, all the films are finished and exported. They have been put into a time-line on the laptop and are now ready to be projected on the big screen in the Health Information Centre in Ashgabat. The teachers of the participants have also come to the event and the Head of the Prevention Department of the Health Information Centre is curious to see the results of the workshop.
After the 19 films that were produced in the last five days have been shown, the participants first express their gratitude to the trainers. Then Güsel Gojaeva, Head of the Prevention Department of the Health Information Centre, speaks to everybody in the screening room: "I think these results are great. You have managed to come from the left and from the right and still hit the issue right on the head. It is very important that we use these films to spread the message about HIV/AIDS before the disease can spread. I think you have done a great job!" Sapar Mollaniyazov, one of the Professors from the Insitute of Culture, sees it similarly: "This week has been a really interesting experience for the students, I think. It challenged their creativity and they took up the challenge and came out with some very good videos." UNICEF Turkmenistan will now coordinate with the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Health of Turkmenistan on how the films can be used to raise more awareness for HIV/AIDS in the country.
