Day Two of the OneMinutesJr workshop in Sarajevo
On the second day of the OneMinutesJr workshop, all the participants are out filming their stories right after breakfast. In one film, the young director protests against the way the people in Bosnia and Herzegovina treat their environment. A little girl is sitting on the grass and people passing by drop their rubbish right in front of her. The rubbish piles up and you cannot even see the girl anymore, you only hear her singing. Then a street-cleaner comes into the scene and brushes the rubbish away. But the girl is also gone...
The second film of the day shows a young girl who comes home from school to do her homework. But there is more "home work" for her than what she has to do for school. First she has to watch her little sister. Then her mother calls her into the kitchen to do the dishes. Then she has to help her father in the garden. At the end of the day, she is so tired that she cannot finish the essay she had to write for school.
In the afternoon, the whole workshop group drives out to nearby Vojkovici in Republika Srpska to film in a school. Naturally, many of the stories developed on the first day of the workshop are set in a school environment. After all, the topic of the workshop is "education". It is hard to keep an overview who is filming what and where. The participants have split up in groups and in several of the classrooms films are being shot simultaneously. There is a story about bribing he jury at a piano competition. Three of the participants of the workshop are the piano players and three of the chaperones and trainers are the jury.
Another very touching film is that of Belma (13). She describes the story of a little girl who forgot her papers for an important exam at home. She calls her mother with the mobile phone from outside the classroom and sneaks out during class to pick up the papers from her mother who rushed to school to support her daughter. The result is the best possible grade in the exam and a happy student and a happy parent.
In the evening, more films are being produced in and around the hostel and the first materials are loaded on the computers for viewing and editing.
