OneMinutesJr workshop in Moldova - Day 3
Half-time at the workshop in Străşeni, Moldova. The third day of the workshop is usually the busiest filming day of the week. All story ideas are clear, all potential actors (friends, teachers, trainer, etc.) have been asked whether or not they want to participate in the making of the films and all "props" have been arranged.
One of the trainers is filming with two groups outside the school-yard. There is one story with paper boats floating on a little river and another one that is set in a nearby army compound. Meanwhile in the school, both boys and girls from the workshop group have put on their football jerseys to help Dima finish his film. Dima (15) wanted to do a football story from the very beginning, but when we talked to him, he also showed another face and another story. He is here because he was beaten by his father at home. So we try to compare violence in sports and violence at home - and the punishment that goes along with it, or not...
There are more films being done today - Tatiana shows the domino effect in life: Her parents got divorced, her mother went to jail, she and her sisters went to the boarding-school. Mihaela (13) is locked up in a cage for her film. All you see is her and the bars and all you hear is the wind and a beautiful poem she wrote. Beautiful words, but a heavy undertone and a shocking story.
Veronica (16) is showing the world that she wants to become an designer. She is starting with an empty room and will bring it to life. On a different level, she also wants to be the designer in her own life and wants to fill her future and that of her family-to-be with happiness and joy.
At the end of the third day, 13 of 21 films are shot. So there is still a lot to do for all of us on the fourth and the fifth day of the workshop. And tomorrow the local media will also come to the boarding-school to find out more about what we are doing. Another good way of spreading the messages...
