Introducing the Russian J8 team 2009

ST. PETERSBURG, Russian Federation - 26 May, 2009

Experts from the St.Petersburg University today announced the winners of the Russian contest "The world through the eyes of youth" - the four young people chosen by the jury will represent the Russian Federation at the J8 Summit in Rome this coming July.

The four youngsters are: Isayeva Angelica Mikhailovna (17) from Sochi, Kozhina Ksenia Yurievna (17) Volzhsky (Volgograd region), Khulayeva Yulia Eduardovna (17) from Troitskoye (Republic of Kalmykia) and Chukov Roman Sergeevich (16) from Stavropol.

The members of the Russian delegation will discuss the following topics with their peers from the G8 countries, as well as the developing countries represented at the J8 Summit:

1.    Global warming and climate change
2.    Poverty and development
3.    Surviving children who are HIV-positive or have AIDS
4.    The world economic crisis

Their discussions will take place parallel with the work of the G8 Summit.  As a result of their dialogue, the teens from the eight countries making up the G8, will prepare an official letter to the G8 leaders which reflects their combined ideas on how to effectively deal with the issues contained in the above topics.
