Regional Consultation on Violence Against Children: 5-7 July 2005

The need for concerted worldwide action to defend human rights and to eliminate violence has long been recognised.

In response to a request from the General Assembly, the Secretary-General has appointed Professor Paulo Sergio Pinheiro as Independent Expert to carry out an in-depth study on violence against children.UNICEF, the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and WHO, along with the Government of Slovenia, the Council of Europe and the NGO-advisory panel are supporting the study.

The Regional Consultation on the UN Study on Violence against children in Europe and Central Asia took place in Ljubljana, Slovenia, on July 5-7th 2005.

website has been created to provide in-depth information on Violence Against Children in Europe and Central Asia. YThis includes key documents such as background papers for the Consultation, Government responses to the UN questionnaire, or resources submitted by all the partners involved in the study (studies, reports, tools, field stories, videos...). This violence has to stop. We need to act now!
