Banja Luka, 27 March 2008 – The Citizens’ Association ART PULS and the City of Banja Luka at the ceremony in Banja Luka Children’s Theater presented the project „Dona nobis pacem“.

On this occasion the UNICEF Representative to Bosnia and Herzegovina June Kunugi received the donation on behalf of UNICEF – a song dedicated to peace, together with the video spot, written and preformed by young Banja Luka musical artists. Dona nobis pacem is a gift from the city of Banja Luka and Association of Artists ART PULS, who are giving up their author and proprietary rights to the benefit of UNICEF.

„Dona nobis pacem“ (give us peace) is a project through which a message of peace is sent to the whole world by musical artistic expression. By further distribution of the song and music video, a positive view of peace will be sent from our city and country and that way affirm young music talents, as well as the heritage of the song.“ – said Sanela Babic, executive director of the Project.

„The City of Banja Luka is recognisable for its rich cultural heritage and constant investment into the development of culture and arts. Banja Luka is an open city“, said the Mayor of Banja Luka, Mr. Dragoljub Davidovic. The Mayor handed over the transcript of the song Dona nobis pacem to the UNICEF Representative, Ms. June Kunugi.

“UNICEF would like to strengthen our support to education programmes by adding activities and training to help make schools free from violence.  This initiative has already been implemented in schools in Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria and Moldova. If the artists and authors of the song agree, we would like the song to be used in connection with bringing this initiative to Bosnia and Herzegovina, including in fundraising and social mobilization. I wish to express thanks for this beautiful gift, and to ask that we continue to work in partnership. Let us unite against violence, unite for peace, and unite for children”, June Kunugi, UNICEF Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina, said on this occasion.

The author of the text and music „Dona nobis pacem“ is Mladen Matovic, affirmed composer and musical pedagogue from Banja Luka. The composition is interpreted by the famous twenty-year-old singer and pianist Marija Sestic – as the Queen of Peace and four winners of international Kid's Festivals: Jovana Raljic, Ivana Santrac, Sara Spasojevic and Tijana Mijatovic who were awarded at various local and European festivals.
