Barimba and friends help out children after floodsSARAJEVO, 26 May 2014 - The filming of a special episode of Barimba, a popular TV show for children started today. In this episode, a weathered sailor Barimba, and his little friends talk about what happens after floods and how children can protect themselves from the lurking dangers.
The production uses entertaining and age appropriate content to teach children about the hazards that children and adults may encounter during and after natural disasters such as floods. A friendly character Barimba talks to children about personal hygiene and the crucial role it plays in protection against infectious diseases, how to use water properly and how to protect themselves from mines, which in the aftermath of the floods pose the biggest threat to human safety and lives, children being the most vulnerable.
In addition to an animated feature, Barimba will also appear in six short television and radio spots, each containing key messages about hygiene, security and protection, and each verified by the relevant authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The catchiest part of the production is the song titled "Wash Your Hands“, which we hope is as captivating as its important message – how to stay healthy.
Production of the animated feature and spots, which will be aired on the Public Broadcasting Service, local radio and TV stations and the social media, was made possible by UNICEF, OSCE Mission to BiH and World Vision BiH.
