Croatia: marketing agency wins global award for UNICEF campaign

Under the slogan "Every Child Needs a Family", a young girl mistakes shop mannequins for parents.
Croatia's market communications agency Lowe Digitel was presented today with a bronze medal at one of the most prestigious international advertising festivals, the New York Festivals 2005 Print Advertising Awards, for its citylight poster created for the UNICEF campaign Every Child Needs a Family. Lowe Digitel produced the poster Dolls for a UNICEF project, the aim of which is to promote and improve forms of family-type care for children lacking proper parental care.
To date, the campaign has raised more than US$400,000, with donations coming in from more than 75,000 people. Over the longer-term, the campaign aims to change attitudes, as well as legislation, to prevent children going into institutional care.
Lowe Digitel is the first Croatian agency to win an award at this prestigious festival. The company has been supporting UNICEF free of charge for the last three years. This is the second UNICEF campaign masterminded by Lowe Digitel. Last year the company organised a campaign called Stop Violence among Children -- also very well received. The company also provides pro bono communication support to UNICEF through its sister PR agency Premisa and event organising agency YES!, including help in preparing press releases, conferences and events.
The New York Festivals award was won against strong competition, including over 4,300 entries from 62 countries around the world. All entries submitted to the New York Festivals were evaluated online by an international judging panel made up of 80 creative directors, representatives of all the most important advertising centers in the world.
The awarded ad is available at the festival’s website http://www.newyorkfestivals.com/. It will also be published in the New York Festivals’ annual, the best-selling publication of that particular type in the world.
The authorial team behind the awarded ad is made up of creative directors Dario Vince and Alma Čakmazović, art director Branimir Lazanja, copywriter Alma Čakmazović, producer Neven Malenica and photographer Ivana Vučić.
