Regional consultation “The world we want” with youth opens next week in Istanbul

WHAT: A major regional consultation with adolescents and youth on Post 2015 Development Goals and on Education will be held from 2-6 September with the participation of 22 countries in Europe and Central Asia. Young people with and without disabilities, from remote areas, from ethnic minorities will also voice their opinions. Journalists are invited to a press conference held on the last day of the consultation.

WHO: Youth representatives

WHERE: Green Park Hotel Bostanci, Icerenkoy Mah. Manolya Sanayi Sok. No:36 Atasehir, Istanbul, Turkey

WHEN: 6 September 2013 at 11 a.m.

ORGANIZERS: UNICEF and the International Youth Leadership Academy

WHY: The Millennium Development Goals have benefited children and young people but there is unfinished business to ensure a future world fit for children. Europe and Central Asia is striving to ensure that young people have a meaningful and continuous say in shaping the new development agenda after 2015 and on education. This consultation is a chance to engage their voices. A youth statement on the future they want stemming from this consultation will be presented at high-level conferences towards the end of the year.
