Children’s smiles are the best screenshots of lifeKYIV, 24 November 2012 – UNICEF today celebrated its 15th anniversary in Ukraine together with our most precious guests, the children, in the premises of FILM.UA movie studio.
More than 200 children attended the party, including children with disabilities, little patients of cardiology centre, refugee children, HIV-positive children and Kyiv school students. Attending celebrities also brought their children along. During the tour in the studio little guests plunged into the magic of cinema and learned how real movies are being made. They also received presents from popular cartoon heroes – Masha and the Bear - and from the Inter TV channel. And, as in any real birthday party, everyone enjoyed a piece of birthday cake from UNICEF. “I am happy to celebrate our 15th birthday with children. UNICEF
remains committed to care for children and protect their rights. And this celebration
is a great opportunity to remind people that all children are different, but
every child equally needs love, care and attention”, emphasized Yukie
Mokuo, UNICEF Representative in Ukraine. “For
UNICEF in general, and for me personally children’s smiles are the best
birthday presents ever”, - added Yukie Mokuo. During the event FILM.UA and Signal Red presented a new video about UNICEF activity. Famous Ukrainian singer Gaitana has composed the music and voiced this video. Thanks to Inter’s media support, the video was initially broadcasted in Ukraine at the Inter-Ranok channel’s morning programme during the Universal Children’s Day, which is celebrated annually in November in many countries. “Globally
UNICEF cooperates with the most famous film studios, including Walt Disney. We
are happy that FILM.UA became UNICEF’s first partner studio in Ukraine and
produced a public social advertisement about the organisation. I hope that
children liked our video, because their sincere opinion is something that is most
important for us” - noted Serhiy Sozanovskyi, the director
of FILM.UA.
Many Ukrainian celebrities are also
responsible parents. Some of them visited the UNICEF birthday, including TV
presenters Hanna Homonai with daughter Marichka, Anastasiya Dougle and
Volodymyr Andrievskiy, as well as Vlad Fisun with his daughter Eva and actress
Darya Volga with her son Anton. Famous parents joined the celebration and
demonstrated their benevolence and care for vulnerable children. Chairman of the board of “Inter Media
Group” Yaroslav Porokhnyak said: “We are
happy to congratulate UNICEF Ukraine on their honourable anniversary, as we
also encourage the development of family values in our society, and understand
the Fund’s mission to protec interests and rights of our little Ukrainians. Traditionally
Inter is a family-oriented channel for audience of different ages. Attention of
little viewers is very important for us, therefore we are happy that children
enjoy such cartoon series as “Masha and the Bear”, “Winks”, the “School of
Doctor Komarovskyi” project and the like. Children’s joy and pleasure is the award
of the highest value, and I am as a father of many children absolutely positive
about that”. UNICEF is grateful to SAP Company for the support, and its volunteers for their commitment to children and help during the cinema tours for kids and photo and drawing master-classes. Editor’s Note Over 2 billion children live in the world, and 8 million of them are little Ukrainians. Every child is born with rights. Each child has the right to education, the right to health and proper medical care, the right to a name and a nationality. Each child has the right to grow up in a caring family environment, and to be protected from violence and abuse. These rights are among the others set out in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child that was ratified by Ukraine in 1991. Learn more about your rights
