Call for submission of good practice and tools for disaster risk reducation in education
UN International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (UNISDR) and UN Children's Fund (UNICEF) are jointly announcing the call for submission of good practices and tools on DRR in Education. This initiative is implemented within DIPECHO V project with the financial support of European Commission’s Humanitarian Aid department (ECHO).
Good practice on DRR in Education is any innovative project / programme / initiative / activity / teaching and learning process implemented in the sphere of primary, secondary and higher education to promote disaster risk reduction, disaster preparedness and response which are in the process of implementation or already implemented.
Good practice can be also understood as a methodology or tool that is creating circumstances to make significant difference and innovative DRR in Education approaches in a project or programme / teaching or learning process which brought positive changes, new and creative solutions, and similar.
1. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR PARTICIPANTS
Any organization (public, private, UN agencies, international and local NGOs, etc.) or individuals (physical persons) working in the five Central Asian republics (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan), who have successful experience and relevant expertise in the sphere of DRR in Education, may submit their works on “Good Practices and Tools on DRR in Education”.
2. APPLICATION PROCEDURE
To participate in this activity all submissions should be prepared in accordance with the Guidelines that can be obtained at the following address: 43 Istiqlol Str., Tashkent, Uzbekistan, or via e-mail:firstname.lastname@example.org

The works with the subject “Knowledge Management Initiative” should be sent via e-mail or in a hard copy to the address above.
The deadline for submissions is October 10, 2009.
Best works selected by the Review Group will be compiled and presented in a compendium on “Good Practices and Tools in DRRE in CA”.
The owner of the one most impressive submission, selected by the Review Group, will be provided an opportunity to present his/her work at a high level regional conference in December 2009.
UNISDR and UNICEF will cover all expenses of the winner related to the travel and participation at the Regional Conference.
