OneMinutesJr workshop in Moldova - Day 3

BALTI, Moldova, 28 May 2014 - Day 3 is always the big filming day at a OneMinutesJr workshop and this time in Balti, the second biggest city in Moldova, is no exception to the rule.

We start in the morning with the old well that still serves as a water source for some of the locals here in Balti. Oleg (19) is producing his video here and he wants to show how difficult it is to reach the light when you have hit the bottom once as as young person. Oleg spent some time in the now-closed youth penitentiary in Lipcani where we held a OneMinutesJr workshop a few years ago (click here for the videos from that workshop). The well is a perfect setting for his film and the ups and downs in his life so far.

We continue with a film in the music school in Balti where we are allowed to use a piano. Vitalie (16) shows us how he can improvise when playing a song and he will reflect on this skill in his voice-over and explain how the life of a teenager is all about improvisation.

Then the blood almost boils over! It's time for Andrej's film. The 16-year-old admits that he is hot-blooded and that it has not worked much in his favor so far. But he developed some methods for himself that cool him down when his blood starts boiling. So with some red paint, an old kettle, a stove and a good voice-over text we have everything we need to visualize his bad temper and what to do about it.

Other film locations today include a church, a prison, a half-built house, an old train and the local train station. By the end of the day, we have shot 9 out of 13 films we want to produce here. We still have tomorrow for the rest of the films and for the editing before we will have the presentation on Friday morning. There will be visitors, but more about that tomorrow...
