The Japan Committee for UNICEF is a long-time supporter of UNICEF Cambodia across a number of the different areas of the Country Programme. With support from the Japan Committee, important results for children in Cambodia have been achieved including: 28,146 children, 14,261 girls, have accessed their right to education through community preschools in 321 communes in 12 provinces of Cambodia; 4,000 children have increased awareness of landmines and are able to practice safe behaviours; approximately 3,800 people, of which 400 are children under five years of age have access to safe water through a completed piped-water system in Kampong Kong commune; and approximately 8,000 students in 16 schools now have new toilet facilities, complete with hand-washing facilities.
