The right to participate empowers children and adolescents

This project helps children and adolescents to achieve greater awareness of their rights; to share their opinions with society at large; to participate with democratic behaviour in child orientated organizations; and to gain access to information on reproductive health designed specifically for them.

The principal scenarios are the existing families, schools and communities; as well as organizations managed by young people, as these provide the necessary spaces to be able to work directly with youth. The project also supports other scenarios such as social centres for youth and adolescents, and activities with cultural and sports groups that have great influence on young people. The Bolivian Alliance for Children and Adolescents and the Children's Parliament, now known as the National Congress of the Child and Adolescent Parliament, also receive support.

The Bolivian Children's Alliance is a movement for child and adolescent participation, promoted by UNICEF. Its principal objectives are to promote and ensure the observance of rights within the framework of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, the Code for Children and Adolescents, and the Global Movement for Children; and to strengthen real participation by children and adolescents.
