Thousands of flood victims hope for solidarity from Bolivia
La Paz – Bolivia, February 14, 2008.- The BISA Financial Group and Multimedia Communications Group joined with UNICEF last night for the second year running to launch the campaign entitled “Solidarity Bolivia, Because It Is Time to Help”. The purpose of the campaign is to collect funds, medicines and food in benefit of the children who are suffering from the disasters caused by the La Niña phenomenon in Beni. Through the Telethon, “we hope to receive most of the donations with a big national show in La Paz, Cochabamba and Santa Cruz,” emphasized Pacheco. Last year, Bs 1.7 million was raised in medicines, along with 78 truckloads of food and supplies, according to Pacheco. “Our goal is to help out as much as we can”, he added. A Banco BISA toll-free line (800-10-5555) has been set up to deal with any questions related to the issue. Employees of the Oil Worker’s Health Cooperative have donated Bs 4,994 to those affected by the floods in Trinidad.
