UNICEF awarded 13 Municipalities as “Child Friendly Municipality 2006”

During the Expoferia Bolivia Municipal 2007

La Paz – Bolivia, October 18, 2007. – UNICEF Bolivia Representative, Gordon Jonathan Lewis together with the Minister for Development Planning, Gabriel Loza and the Vice Minister of Decentralization, Fabian Yaksic, awarded 13 Municipalities as “Child Friendly Municipality 2006”.

The certificate “Municipality Friend of Childhood” is a prize awarded jointly by the Government of Bolivia and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in recognition to an outstanding municipal year in the fulfilment of childhood rights of the municipal governments where is supported the implementation of actions of integral nature mainly in health, education and protection.

This prize awarding constitutes the second version of the activity that began the year 2005 and aims to turn on an activity of recognition to the important contribution made from the local level to national and international objectives in relation to integral development in favour to childhood.
