Component 8 – Regular assessment of the socio-economic status of children and evaluation of the social protection system on them

This component shall improve the practice of collecting and analyzing statistical data, based on which the indicators will be established which describe the benefit for children. These indicators are necessary to follow progress of development of new strategies and so that the measurable outcomes could be planned. The final goal is to improve efficiency of the system of monitoring, evaluation and reporting on progress of services of social protection, child benefit, and reduction of poverty and social marginalization.

Expected outcome: Professionals on the sector of social protection are trained to collect and analyze the indicators on the status of child rights and recognize potential progress 

Activity:

1. Analysis of the lacking statistical indicators and recommendations for improvement, including the definition of the set of indicators and assessment of current capacities for the collection of data, monitoring and evaluation; 
2. Testing mechanisms for human rights-based development, at selected locations.

This will include:

  • Expansion of the DevInfo initiative for the collection of socio-economic data
  • Expansion of the network of local non-governmental organizations, for the evaluation of the child rights in local communities throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina, established in 2006.
  • Support to the Council for Children of Bosnia and Herzegovina and DEP to accept, analyze and recognize recommendations through vertical network of reporting
  • Development of methodology for the analysis of the impact of political, social and economic changes on children and their rights

3. Training of experts in the bureaus of statistics and relevant ministries.
