Meena Media Awards 2010

Winners of Meena Media Awards 2010

The 6th Meena Media Awards were announced on 29 November 2010 at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel. The Awards celebrate excellence in creative media and journalism to promote child rights in Bangladesh and have generated a good response this year and attracted submissions from all over the country.

Broadly divided into ‘creative’ and ‘journalistic’ categories, entries have been sought from print and electronic media (including a special category for entrants less than 18 years of age).

Categories:

• Above 18: Print media – reports (news reports, features, post editorials)
• Under 18: Print media – reports (news reports, features, post editorials)
• Above 18: Print media – creative (articles, stories, poems)
• Under 18:Print media – creative (articles, stories, poems)
• Above 18 : Television – reports (news reports, features, documentaries)
• Under 18: Television – reports (news reports, features, documentaries)
• Above 18: Television – creative (programmes other than news, e.g. short films, plays, songs)
• Under 18: Television – creative (programmes other than news, e.g. short films, plays, songs)

Seven eminent judges drawn from literature, journalism, academia, film and documentary sectors have deliberated over many quality entries to select winners in each category for this year’s Awards.

The Meena Media Awards were introduced in 2005 and are named after Meena, a popular girl child animation character whose stories champion the rights of children across South Asia.
