The Office of UNICEF (UNITED NATIONS CHILDREN’S FUND) in Azerbaijanis seeking candidate to fill the following temporary position: Youth Development and Participation Assistant (GS4).

Duration:  5.5 months under Special Service Agreement (15/07/10 -31/12/10)
Required Qualifications:

 Azeri national with relevant degree from a university or from an institution of equivalent status
 At least three to five years experience in youth development and participation, preferably in the    context of the United Nations or other international organizations, and field work experience an asset.
 Demonstrated ability to work in a multicultural environment, and establish harmonious and effective working  relationships, both within and outside the organization
 Good analytical and research skills with capacity to detect and understand relevant literature; good   grasp of the subject matter; creativeness, ability to use all sources of reference; and ability to maintain an adequate speed and volume of output. 
    Computer skills, including internet navigation, and various office applications

    Fluency in English and Azerbaijani

Responsibilities/ Nature of the Assignment:
Under the supervision of the Youth Development Officer, the incumbent will implement/facilitate various programme related activities, ensure appropriate record keeping, filing and documentation of those activities, as well as undertake regular field visit to monitor programme implementation.

Work process:
Volume of programme related activities will be identified and prioritized by the Deputy Representative in consultation with the Youth Development Officer. The incumbent will undertake activities in close discussion/consultation with the Youth Development Officer. The incumbent will also represent relevant UNICEF section in various related meetings; follow up with consultants hired for implementation of the programme.
