Ministry of Youth & Sport and UNICEF announces a call for proposals for the organization of community sport festivals

Ministry of Youth & Sport of the Republic of Azerbaijan and UNICEF
are pleased to announce a call for proposals for the organization of community sport festivals to promote social inclusion, healthy life style and girls’ participation in sport in the selected communities of
Lankaran, Masally, Guba, Fizuli, Hajigabul, Shirvan

Deadline for application: 1 June 2009, 18:00

The projects’ focus will be on promoting opportunities for equal participation of girls and boys, and young people in design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of state approved child and youth policies, as well as use power of sport in tackling a range of social problems, including social exclusion, and promote better life skills and awareness on how to protect themselves from HIV/AIDS and other risky behaviors.

Community sports festivals will include campaigns to promote awareness of parents and other community members about the benefits of sports for development of girls and prevention from risky behaviors at the selected 4 communities:

1. Lankaran, Masally
2. Hajigabul, Shirvan
3. Guba
4. Fizuli

Community-based sports initiatives aim at the increase of social integration of disadvantaged children and young people, especially those in need of special protection (children with disabilities, children in institutions or at risk of institutionalization, children in conflict with law and child victims of crime) with special focus on girls.   

The eligibility criteria for the civil society origination/s willing to apply:
- Extensive experience in working with youth in fields like sport, HIV/AIDS and risky behaviors and social inclusion with particular focus on girls;
- Experience in advocacy and work with media;
- Experience in organization of festivals and community events

The implementing organization will be selected jointly by the committee composed of representatives of Ministry of Youth and Sport and UNICEF.

The project proposals with specified objectives and activities as well as a detailed budget should be submitted in English (in exceptional cases also in Azerbaijani or Russian) by 1 June 2009, 18:00 to:
