Avian Influenza
Communications Resource Centre
Communication strategies and tools can play a vital role in addressing two immediate priorities — preventing and preparing for pandemic flu. Giving people the right information will reduce the likelihood of pandemic flu, prevent unnecessary actions, and mitigate the economic and social impacts of a pandemic.
The online centre for avian and pandemic influenza communication resources aims to provide users with strategic communication products, information, and tools developed around the globe to prevent, contain, and respond to outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza virus. The online resource centre has been developed under the aegis of the UN System Influenza Coordinator (UNSIC) as a joint initiative of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), World Food Programme (WFP) and World Health Organization (WHO). This site has been made possible through financial assistance from the Government of Japan.
Available in this resource centre are: global policies and guidelines, communication strategies and plans, and research, monitoring and evaluation reports, links to relevant web sites on avian and pandemic influenza and creative products such as television and radio PSAs, posters and flyers, photographs and illustrations.
