يبرز التقرير السنوي لعام 2006 عمل اليونيسف في 155 بلدا ومنطقة وإقليما. ويلخص بعض النتائج الهامة التي تحققت للأطفال في عام 2006 ويسلط الضوء على القيام بالمزيد من العمل في بعض المجالات. ويبين التقرير أن الطريق إلى تحقيق الأهداف الإنمائية للألفية محفوفا بالعقبات، ولكن هذه العقبات لا تنثني من القيام بالعمل، فالشراكات القوية، والاستثمار الذكي والمسائلة الدقيقة سيساعد على انتقاء النماذج للتنمية المستدامة.

احتفلت اليونيسف بذكرى مرور ستين عاما على تأسيسها في عام 2006، مسجلة ستة عقود من العمل الإنساني والدعوة لصالح الأطفال. لا زالت احتياجات الأطفال وحقوقهم تشكل حاجة ملحة كما كانت في عام 1946 وسنواصل العمل دون كلل حتى يتسنى لكل طفل الحصول على صوت وحماية حقوق كل طفل.
