Children in Angola

Activities

UNICEF's programmes include health, nutrition, education, water and sanitation, HIV/AIDS, mines risk education and child protection. In addition, the communication and social mobilisation programme has activities that cut across all programme areas while developing projects for youth participation.

Health and Nutrition
The program aims to protect children from many deadly diseases, improve their access to healthcare and essential drugs, and enhance their mental and physical development.

Education
The program aims to help primary school children receive a quality education and fundamental life skills training, support the enrolment of girls in schools and the training of out-of-school children.

Water and Sanitation
The program aims to increase children's access to safe drinking water and sanitary facilities, and to ensure that more children in disadvantaged areas are being taught safe hygiene habits.

Protection
The program aims to protect children affected by war while ensuring mechanisms to spare them from mine accidents, violence, trafficking, exploitation and abuse are developed.

HIV/AIDS
The program aims to empower children, youth and women to protect themselves against HIV/AIDS, and help ensure that people infected with and affected by HIV/AIDS are given care and support.

Communication and Social Mobilisation
The program aims to enhance the quantity and quality of child-focused media available, and to increase families’ knowledge of beneficial care practices for them and their children.
