UNICEF is working to put early childhood at the top of the government agenda. Children’s well-being results from many interrelated factors, so UNICEF’s activities in early childhood (from birth to 6 years old) combine actions in many fields, all aimed at ensuring that children have good care. We support efforts to improve the skills of families and communities so they can make sure children grow up healthy and well nourished and ready for school. UNICEF pays special attention to children in the north of the country and informal communities around the capital where high rates of poverty make life hard for young children.
