Unity – the Official Athens 2004 Olympic Games Album will help raise funds for UNICEF’s work in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
NEW YORK, 13 August 2004 – In keeping with the spirit of the Olympic Games, Unity – the Official Athens 2004 Olympic Games Album – has brought together different races, cultures and religions in an environment of friendship and peace. The album will help raise funds for UNICEF’s work in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

EMI Music has secured an eclectic mix of top international artists to appear on the album, representing 15 different countries across four continents. With an underlying theme of harmony and peace, most of the 16 tracks on Unity feature two or more artists performing together. Included on the new recording are duets featuring Destiny's Child, Avril Lavigne, Lenny Kravitz, Sting and Mariza, Earth Wind & Fire with Roots Manuva and Macy Gray performing with Keziah Jones.

Today, more than half of new HIV infections are among young people between the ages of 15 and 24 years old. An estimated 15 million children under the age of 18 have been orphaned as a result of AIDS, 90 per cent of them in sub-Saharan Africa.

In association with the release of this CD, EMI Music will make a donation to UNICEF's work with young people, with a minimum of $180,000 guaranteed for supporting HIV/AIDS programmes in sub-Saharan Africa.
