Executive Board members have been taking part in field visits to UNICEF programme countries since 1993. The countries to be visited each year are selected by the Bureau, in consultation with the secretariat (and with the bureaux of the other agencies for the joint visit).
There are three kinds of visits to a programme country each year: (1) by the members of the Bureau; (2) by members of the Executive Board; and (3) a joint visit by members of the Executive Boards of UNDP/UNFPA/UNOPS, UNICEF, UN-Women and WFP.
