UNICEF, the world’s leading organization working for the rights of children, seeks a Deputy Director, Operations, P6, Copenhagen, Denmark.

Porpose:

  • This position supports the Director in the management and policy development of UNICEF's Supply Division in Copenhagen, Denmark. Overall, the incumbent will be responsible  for planning, coordination and management of the Supply Division operational functions and act as Deputy to   the Director, Supply Division.
  • This function will oversee the following areas: Financial Management and Administration, Human Resources, Operational Analysis and Technology, Evaluation. To this end, the incumbent’s key end results and accountabilities will include: 
  • Efficient and effective operations, including financial, administrative, human and Information Technology, including as demonstrated by proxy and performance indicators.
  • Harmonious and high-performing teams, including for the Centres supervised, but also across SD
  • Responsible for the planning and coordination of the Supply Division Centres and Units on operational matters: The Financial Management and Administration Centre, Operational Analysis and Technology Centre , Human Resources Centre and Evaluation unit.
  • Ensures sound and timely financial and human resource management, including on procurement services matters. Ensures timely and accurate year-end reporting, working with NYHQ
  • Assists the Director in overall management and policy development of the Supply Division. Helps coordinate the Supply Division management plan, workplans, table of authority, internal control framework statutory committees and monitors performance and progress with recommendations for corrective action.
  • Ensures that policies and procedures laid down for the efficient and correct implementation of operations are updated and maintained by regular review of actions taken in all areas of operation. Ensures IT systems and tools are appropriate and facilitate effective and efficient supply chain management.
  • Reviews regularly specific Supply Division outputs, in terms of progress on performance targets, result areas and management indicators per the office management plan.
  • Coordinates and leads Supply Division's work on common services and inter-UN matters such as HLCM. Ensures positive working relationships with counterparts in HQ Divisions and Regional Offices.
  • Provide the secretariat for evaluation and business controlling aspects such as efficiency indicators and risk-control matrix.

 

Minimum requirements:

  • Advanced university degree in Business Administration and/or Management in a related field
  • At least fifteen years of progressively responsible management experience with international organisations, major government or commercial organisations  with a significant focus on operations and risk management.
  • Knowledge of Financial Management, Human Resources and Information Technology
  • Strong experience in planning, co-ordinating and managing  multiple activities and projects.
  • Experience with management of diverse professional teams at the senior level and technical staff.
  • English is required. Fluency in another UN language preferred, notably French.
