Temporary Assignment: Health and Nutrition Specialist (Emergency), P-3, Amman, Jordan

UNICEF seeks an Emergency Health and Nutrition International Professional to support our response to the sub-regional Syria crisis.

Assignment:
Under the guidance of the Deputy Representative, you will support the UNICEF Jordan Country Office in meeting UNICEF’S Core Commitments for Children in Emergencies (CCC’s) in Health and Nutrition, and ensure timely provision of emergency and basic health care and nutrition to prevent malnutrition, morbidity and mortality of women and children Syrian refugees in Jordan. This support will be focused on community-based interventions, reproductive health interventions; procurement and distribution of relief supplies; vaccination campaigns and re-establishment of EPI; preventing and preparing for outbreaks, supporting coordination mechanisms, assessment, monitoring and evaluation and promotion of behaviour change communication. This support is part of UNICEF’s health and nutrition cluster/sector response strategy, and participates in internal and external coordination mechanisms.

Profile:
To be considered suitable for this position you will possess:
• An advanced university degree in social sciences or public health
• A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in planning and implementing health and nutrition emergency programmes with either the UN, IO, and/or NGO at national and international level
• Familiarity with humanitarian principles, policies and response actions
• Fluency in English and another UN language, Arabic is an asset
You will be highly committed, integer, appreciate diversity and practice inclusion; and have a proven track record in communication, working with people, drive for results, leading and supervising, formulating strategies and concepts, analysing, coping with pressure and setbacks, relating and networking, deciding and initiating action, applying technical expertise.
