Health Specialist (HIV/AIDS Care, Support and Treatment), L-4, Programmes, New York Headquarters

UNICEF seeks a Health Specialist (HIV/AIDS Care, Support and Treatment) to be based in its Programme Division, New York Headquarters.

Reporting to the Senior Adviser, Health (Chief, HIV/AIDS and Health), you will provide policy, technical and programming guidance for the scaling up and quality assurance of UNICEF's work in Child HIV Care, Support and Treatment.  This will involve the planning, management, technical support and monitoring of all UNICEF inputs for this effort at global level as well as coordinating with programme efforts in PMTCT and care and support for mothers and families.  You will be responsible for keeping abreast of research and experience in the field of Child Care, Support and Treatment; providing policy and technical guidance to HQ colleagues, regional advisors and country technical staff; strengthening partnerships in the area of PMTCT and paediatric HIV care, support and treatment with relevant partners, as well as coordinating with UNAIDS Secretariat and WHO and other co-sponsors.

Your profile:
Advanced university degree in public health or a related technical field. Paediatric training an added asset.
Eight years progressively responsible professional work experience at the national and international levels in programme planning, management, monitoring, and evaluation, in a related field.
Current expert knowledge of the latest developments and issues related to HIV/AIDS, particularly HIV Child Care, Support and Treatment.
Foundational competencies: commitment, drive for results, embracing diversity, integrity, self-awareness and self-regulation, and teamwork.
Functional competencies: analytical and conceptual thinking, building trust, coaching, communication, group facilitation, influence, judgment, managing resources, networking, planning, setting standards and monitoring work, stress management and technical knowledge.
Fluency in English is required. Fluency in a second UN language is preferred.
