Child Protection Specialist, L-3, Georgetown, Guyana
If you are a passionate and committed professional and want to make a lasting difference for children, the world's leading children's rights organization would like to hear from you. UNICEF seeks a Child Protection Specialist to be based in its Georgetown, Guyana office.
Under the technical guidance of the Deputy Representative, you will provide technical advice on Child Protection and legal/institutional reforms to the Human Rights Division of Attorney General’s Office, as well as to Sectoral Ministries, at national and local levels. You will mainstream child rights protection focus in sectoral policies with emphasis on prevention and treatment of violence, and all forms of child abuse, exploitation and discrimination. You will also manage and monitor budget and be responsible for overall coordination, planning, development, management and monitoring of project implementation.
Your profile:
Advanced university degree in social sciences, law or other fields related to the work of UNICEF.
Five years of professional work experience at the national and international levels in programme management, monitoring, and evaluation, linked to child rights.
Current knowledge of development issues, strategies and programming policies and procedures in international development cooperation.
Proven ability to conceptualize, innovate, plan and execute ideas, as well as to impart knowledge and teach skills.
Ability to supervise and direct a team of professional staff.
Analytical, negotiating, communication and advocacy skills.
Computer skills, including internet navigation and various office applications.
Fluency in English and another UN language required. Working knowledge of French or Spanish is an asset.
