Regional Adviser, Child Protection, P-5, Panama City Regional Office, Panama

If you are a passionate and committed professional and want to make a lasting difference for children, the world's leading children's rights organization would like to hear from you. UNICEF seeks a Regional Adviser, Child Protection to be based in its Panama City Regional Office, Panama.

You will provide expert advice, analysis and technical support to the Regional Office and country offices on legislation, policies, programmes and operational and advocacy strategies on human rights standards and on child protection issues (including preventing and lessening the impact of violence, exploitation, abuse, discrimination and neglect). You will also propose and support, in collaboration with partners, regional initiatives which will contribute to the protection of all children, according to the Convention on the Rights of the Child and other international human rights treaties.

Your profile:
Advanced university degree in any of the following: law, social sciences, public administration, international relations, or other fields related to the work of UNICEF.
Knowledge of the development of children’s rights and the CRC in the international human rights context, and of the issues surrounding rights-based programme implementation.
Ten years of progressively responsible professional work experience at the national and international levels in public administrations, social development, management, and development programmes.
Current knowledge of development issues, strategies, as well as programming policies and procedures in international development cooperation.
Proven ability to conceptualize, innovate, plan and execute ideas, as well as to impart knowledge and teach skills.
Leadership and organizational ability.
Good analytical, negotiating, communication and advocacy skills.
Computer skills, including internet navigation and various office applications.
Demonstrated ability to work in a multicultural environment and establish harmonious and effective working relationships, both within and outside the organization.
Fluency in English and another UN language required. Knowledge of the local working language of the duty station is an asset.
