The UNICEF early growth and development initiative Good Start works to improve control in health services in Peru. The father's participation and the prevention of the mother's physical and emotional mistreatment are equally promoted, not only because of the influence of the mother's stress on the development of the child's brain, but because every woman has the right to exercise motherhood without jeopardizing her well-being, and to be respected and valued in her human condition.
